The Job: Usually sailing out Florida
for 7 day cruises this position offers the right musical group an
opportunity to view some of the best places the Caribbean has to
offer. Performing in one of the main bars, 7 nights a week, the
Contemporary Band will be an essential part of the entertainment
provided on board. Surrounded by small tables and a large dance
floor with “Disco” lights will be the setting for the
Contemporary Band who will invite passengers to dance the night
away to the sounds of Rock n’ Roll, Disco & Caribbean party
music or enjoy a cold drink while listening to their favorite songs
looking out at a view to take your breath away. Being versatile
enough to switch to more popular mainstream music hits will give
the group the right stuff to make each passenger’s cruise one
to remember. This is a daily routine that never gets old and that
offers many rewards!.
Candidate Profile: Looking for solid
professionals with experience to entertain guests in one of the
main dance bar areas. The favored group line up should consist of
a piano/keyboard, bass, drums (with one or more instrumentalist
doubling on vocals) with or without sequences for a trio with an
additional vocalist, guitar or saxophone complementing the group
for a quartet. The traditional repertoire is popular music from
the 50’s thru the 80’s but a working knowledge into other
styles such as Latin (Rumba, Salsa, Cha Cha,), Disco and Caribbean
music is an asset. Your main responsibilities are to encourage dancing
and to create a high energy atmosphere and play special requests.
A professional attitude, exemplary conduct, good conversational
English along with talent is pre-requisite for this position. Candidates
should also have at a minimum: performing experience in hotels,
lounge bars and other similar establishments. Previous cruise ship
experience is an asset.
The Deal: This job offer does not
constitute a binding agreement. The job will be yours only after
ProShip's account executive has confirmed it with you. You will
be paid in US dollars and your room and board and transportation
(from North America) will be provided to you free of charge. ProShip
will coordinate all travel arrangements (for you and your equipment)
and assist you in processing all necessary documents such as contracts,
letters of employment, passports, visas, vaccination certificates,
customs declaration forms and hotel reservations (when necessary).
Life at Sea: Space is the most valuable commodity on a seagoing
vessel; therefore you will be sharing a cabin with one other musician.
And to ensure the ship’s cleanliness, you really will get maid
service! All meals and buffets are provided free of charge. The
food on board is good, varied and well balanced; and, because the
portions are large and the food rich, be prepared to gain a few
pounds.
